Thailand
A belated Happy New Year to everyone - we haven’t blogged for ages so it’s about time we let you know what’s been happening for the last couple of months.
On January 11th we flew over to Thailand to start pre-production on our second album. We stayed in Nai Harn beach (Phuket) for 2 weeks where we worked on the instrumentation of each song and then made our way to Karma Sound Studios (situated about 2 hours south of Bangkok) to start the recording process.
The studios are set in an ideal location - 5 minutes walk from the beach and a 25 minute walk to the nearest village which enabled us to totally focus on the job in hand with little distractions - apart from the odd ladyboy of course. It was truly the most creative and productive environment we have ever been in and what we achieved in 17 days would have taken about 6 months back home in London.
The staff at Karma Sound are all amazing and looked after us so well – big thanks goes especially to to Kun Howard and Usa – allowing us to focus entirely on the music and hopefully come back with the best music/sound we’ve ever produced – although we’ll let you guys be the judge of that……
We’re now back in London town (experiencing rice and sun withdrawal symptoms) where we’ll spend a few weeks making the final tweaks to the album as well as preparing for up and coming gigs – The St Patricks Day Shindig at Shepherds Bush Empire on March 17th – being one of them.
So our Thai adventure is finally over but we’re looking forward to the coming year and can’t wait for everyone to hear the new material…..

Dubai, Golf, Jace Everett and the MPs…!?@!!:)
Hey People,
We got back from Abu Dhabi and Dubai last Monday - had an awesome time performing out there for Caffe Nero and ‘Dubai Sound City’. Had an amazing experience playing on a floating stage outside Festival City (..getting a boat to a gig definitely beats the Tube) whilst the sun was setting with the audience chilling on big cushions. Met some great people including the Events Team at ‘Dubai Mall’ who all came down to watch us play at Caffe Nero - now that we’ve got a distribution deal in Dubai let’s hope we’ll get the chance to visit again soon.
Last Wednesday (Nov 11th) we held the first official ‘Honey Ryder Cup’ at the wonderful Buckinghamshire Golf Club. Thanks to all who attended and despite the rain, I think you’ll agree we had a great day out. Martyn ‘hacked’ his way round the course in true Neanderthal Man style whilst my cousin Dan, picked up the prize for the longest drive. Go Danny Boyle…!
We performed a gig for everyone that evening and were joined up on stage by Eric Nicoli & Alistair Butt for a memorable rendition of ‘Choices’.
Last night we supported Jace Everett at The Water Rats (Jace wrote the theme tune to Hit TV Show ‘True Blood’). The place was packed with a very ‘up for it’ crowd which made our set all the more enjoyable and afterwards we hung around to catch Jace who was excellent. Thanks to all our old fans who flew the HR Flag and welcome to all the newly converted HR fans we won over. It was great to meet you all after the show.
We’re going into the studio soon to start the pre-production of our second album - can’t bloody wait - and we’re also looking forward to performing a set on the Terrace at the House of Commons on December 2nd for all the MP’s. Will keep u posted

New Video for ‘Rising Up’
Hey,
Hope you like our new video for ‘Rising Up’.Its quite different from all the rest of the videos but why the hell not….!!
The Fat Buddha remix was getting loads of attention so we felt like complimenting it with something fun and light hearted. We discussed our ideas with Matt from ‘Illumina Digital’ and agreed on a wacky leftfield approach in honour of the great Monty Python.. We love it - hope you do too.

Dubai Sound City
We’ve just been confirmed to perform at Dubai Sound City in November - there are some amazing acts playing so we’re really excited to be taking part. We’re also going to play 3 gigs at Caffe Nero while we’re there (Caffe Nero has just opened up recently in Dubai) which is a great opportunity for Honey Ryder - the gigs will be acoustic and intimate and we’ll be able to meet and chat to our hopefully newly converted HR fans from Dubai afterwards! ‘Hit Sheet’ Showcase at the Cobden Club
We played a gig at the Cobden Club last week as part of the Hit Sheet Magazine Showcase. It also happened to be a joint 50th Birthday party for the Editor Paul and his wife Naomi so was an extra special night.
Our good friend Tony Moore (from The Bedford) hosted the evening and there were 6 acts performing including the talented Jamie Cullum and Jon Allen - it was a brilliant evening despite having to climb 6 flights of stairs with our gear! (It’s all so glamourous darrrlinnk). M&Lxx

Post Water Rats
Howdy people,
Just wanted to fill you in on the latest HR news - we had a great gig at The Monto Water Rats in Kings Cross - it was packed out and there was a great vibe in the audience. It was amazing for us to play with the full band as we’re done quite a few acoustic gigs recently - so Martyn and I were in heaven! We played a couple of new songs which seemed to go down really well - good news as we’re recording the second album in January……in Thailand!! So for the rest of the year we’ll be concentrating on honing all our new material so that we’re ready to go in the new year. Lx

COME TO OUR NEXT GIG…..
…..at the London Monto Water Rats on September 16th.
Advance tickets are now on sale from www.themonto.com
Thought we’d just update you on a few things that have been happening in Camp HR.
Ever since our album came out we’ve been all over the place doing lots of random things.
We are currently the ‘Artist of the Month’ at Caffe Nero, our forthcoming single ‘Rising Up’ is rapidly climbing up the Commercial Pop Pre-Release chart (Number 12 today), we’ve been interviewed by SKY NEWS and we got drunk with ‘Chico’ at the House of Commons….(strange but true).
As well as promotion, we’ve been writing our second album that we plan to record in Thailand early next year.
Staying with the Asian theme, we’ve just signed a licensing deal with EQ Records in Singapore and our manager has been to Tokyo to chat with some big labels about Honey Ryder. We’ll keep you posted.
See you all at the next gig
Love,
Lindz & Mart xx

‘Rising Up’ hits the shops………!!!
YEEEEESSSSSSS! “Rising Up’ hits the shops….!!! After a very long
journey we’ve finally got our debut album in HMV as well as iTunes -
and it’s an amazing feeling. Our 4th single ‘Love in Time’ (a Roy
Orbison cover version) has been playlisted on Radio 2 and will be
released on July 13th. Last Monday, Barbara Orbison flew over from
Nashville to help us promote it and we spent all afternoon doing a
series of BBC regional radio interviews. Mrs O loves what we’ve done
with the song and reckons Roy would have loved it too - which was a
relief to hear!
A couple of weeks ago we played at the Banbury Sound launch party
along with Beverley Craven and several other excellent acts. We had a
cracking evening and just want to thank everyone at the station for
their support.
Last week we performed a live session on Janice Long’s Radio 2 show -
she’s a really nice lady so we had a good laugh during the interview
and hopefully we delivered the goods on the performance front. Janice
seemed to enjoy our live version of ‘Love in Time’ as she’s played it
twice since then.
We’ve just been offered a record deal in South East Asia - if things
go according to plan we’ll be going out to Singapore towards the end
of the year. At the moment, we’re concentrating on promoting the album
and also writing material for the next one. Honey Ryder posters are
going up around the UK as well as several billboards - seeing the
first billboard in Acton whilst on our way to get a sarnie was a
surreal moment for both of us………

Riding on the high
Hi all
Still riding on the high of getting national radio exposure ever since ‘Choices’ got on the Radio 2 playlist, we’ve been up and down the country performing live on regional radio stations. A couple of Monday’s ago we drove to Touch Radio in Banbury, then onto BBC Derby before we ended up live on air in BBC Hull at 8 o’clock at night. After a quick snack/12″ pizza in Pizza Hut we turned around and drove back down the M1 - who said life on the road wasn’t glamourous….(!)

New Blog - April 17th 2009
Hi everyone – we haven’t been in touch for a while so thought we’d fill you in on our Honey Ryder news…….
Martyn and I have had a great 2009 so far. In January we went to the South of France to perform at a music conference called ‘Midem’. We met loads of great people, played on the same bill as Justin Hawkins (ex Darkness frontman) and paid a hell of a lot of Euros for a rum and coke. All in the name of art.

Hi Everyone
We just want to say a MASSIVE MASSIVE thank you for all your support. We’re over the moon that Fly Away has entered the Top 40 although Martyn is still coming to terms with the fact that DJ Reggie called Honey Ryder a new ‘girl band’. (The operation is booked in for next week….lol)
